This film is raw, unbearably so at times, as the two leads expertly portray both strength and vulnerability.

Although Suzie may not be open about her own perceived ‘faults’, the show’s ability to showcase them illuminates the same point – we all need to give ourselves some slack.

Little Fires Everywhere is a show that, at its core, forces our whitewashed society to analyse our own complicit involvement in the structural systems that allow racism to pervade.

If a show is so well written that it can make you care deeply about the outcome of a morning television show – something we merely glance at while we’re getting ready in the morning – surely this is a show doing something unique, something incredibly special.

With the recent conviction of Harvey Weinstein it seems relevant to discuss this, and talk about what women are tired of hearing: what is it like to be a woman in the film industry?
