When not sea swimming or curating specific Spotify playlists for different moods, she’s often discussing the art direction in Better Call Saul with her mother, or experimenting with 35mm film photography. Her most loved genre is the unhinged and existential woman navigating relationships and the world, stand out favourites being: 20th Century Women, The Worst Person in The World and Bergman Island.

Alina (She/Her) fell in love with film when her dad kept bringing home Will Ferrell movies from the 5 dollar bin at Walmart. Her tastes have evolved since then but she will always have a soft spot for that comedy crew. She is a history graduate from Carleton University, but she does not like historical films. She would love to one day work as an archivist for the National Film Board of Canada and spends much of her time connecting to her Guyanese roots.

Jennifer Lee Maxwell is a freelance essayist, screenwriter and critic from Vancouver, Canada. She has a diploma in Motion Picture Arts and is deeply passionate about the art of cinema. She spends most of her time psychoanalyzing films about women on the brink of madness and dissecting the auteurship of directors like David Lynch, PTA and Lars Von Trier. In her free time, you will find her rereading Sylvia Plath, rewatching Jennifer’s Body, and revisiting The Sopranos for the umpteenth time.
